I'm wondering what plant this is and if it is an Australian Native?

ive got one of them, we call it a pom pom, but i don't know if thats it's real name

i did some research and it is a calliandra species, either emarginata,brevipes or californica as they all look similar. apparently they come from South or Central America, but there are related species from Australia
