Hi

Sorry for the hijack of the what plant is this thread. I was not sure where to place this topic.

I have a 80yo Grandfather who has a problem with his pears. I have attached some photos of the out side and inside of the pear as best as I could get.

There appears to only be the slightest mark on the skin if the pair which may be a little soft as pear develops. When cut the area affect rapidly browns/discolours (oxidising???)

We think it may be a fungal infection after some insect bite to fruit, any ideas may be of help.

Hi there . Good luck with an answer here, this site is very quiet(only couple of posts in two years)and bugger all replies.Try SGA seems to be a lot more active these days and a lot of fruit growers are there.I am just a landscape gardener but Copperoxychloride and Mancozeb seem to be a fix all fungi treatment (works for mangoes and advocados anyway) get another opinion though... happy gardening, kris.
