Hi, My son has this plant coming up everywhere in his garden. I don't know if it's a weed or not. It grows from an onion looking bulb and starts off with purple coloured leaves that turn to green as the plant gets bigger. The stem is also a purple colour at the base. Can anyone tell me what it is please. In case my attachment failed, the flowers are a fushia colour and are long tube shaped.

unfortunately the attachment didnt work.
from what you have said here, it sounds like these plants are fressias. They are actually quite an attractive, and plesant smelling spring bulb. They do however have a habit of naturalling in gardens and lawns and can become a bit of a nusance...but if you like them, then there is no problem.
Technically a weed is just a plant you don't want. Its a matter of opinion on this one.
