Ornamental Tree?

Just wondering if anyone knew what this tree is called. Thanks in advance!

when i first looked at the flowers i straight away thought bauhinia, until i saw the leaves. tell me Destinee, are those seed pods in the bottom picture?

That is a rhododendron, beautiful plant grows best in cold climates in shaded locations, hates full sun and hot days; which is probably why it’s very sparse. There are 100’s of variations on species of rhododendron and some are tree like, but there really large shrubs.

If you live in Victoria, I’d 100% recommend the Rhododendron Garden in the Dandenongs, absolutely fantastic! Its parks Victoria managed, so there wasn't an entry fee I don't think. But fantastic none the less and this would be the time of year to go.

They are actually just dead leaves that hasn't fallen off the plant yet :)
