Mysterious fast growing plant

Postby kcdiep on December 21st, 2009, 8:27 pm

Hi, I am very new to gardening and have a plant I need help in identifying. The plant is approximately 2 by 2 metres tall and wide. It has small purple flower that grow into small (playing marble sized) fruit that are currently dark green. It has grown very quickly. In 3 months it has grown from approximately 30 cm tall to it's current size. If anyone knows what this plant it would solve a big mystery for me  Thanking you in advance.

Its a Kangaroo Apple, its an Australian native. Fruit are toxic, kangaroos are the only ones who can tolerate eating them. Hence the name

Its botanical name is Solanum laciniatum
