Used coffee grounds

Postby springrose on December 30th, 2008, 3:23 pm

Hi I have heard people suggesting to use used coffee grounds as a fertilizer to plants, however I am not sure if I should put it on all kinds of plants, e.g. vegetables, fruit trees or it is only useful to certain plants. What is the amount I should use and do I just scatter them around on ground?

I use coffee grounds for two particular applications in my garden. Although there may be more.
1. I have a type of cycad called Zamia Integrifolia. I put coffee grounds at the base to deter scale bugs that plant is prone to being attacked by.
2. Coffee and tea grounds are acidic so I spread them around my camileas as they are acid loving plants
